Translink has confirmed that Metro 9 services will return to their original departure point at Donegall Square East, opposite Belfast City Hall, from Monday, 10 March 2025.
Previously, passengers had to board at Bedford Street due to public realm works and other city developments. Now, following a review of traffic patterns and service performance, Translink has decided to move the departure stop back to its original location.
Metro 9 services traveling into Belfast city centre will continue to operate via Great Victoria Street, with Wellington Place as their final destination.
David Curry, Translink’s General Manager of Bus Operations, explained, “We have been monitoring these services and city traffic flows, and we believe now is the right time to return the departure stop to Donegall Square East”.
Passengers can access updated timetable information at the shelter facility, on real-time information screens, or via the Journey Planner app.
Curry acknowledged the patience of Metro 9 passengers during the temporary relocation, stating, “We know this will be welcomed by many of our passengers. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation during this period, which allowed us to maintain overall service performance despite increased traffic pressures in the city centre”.
Translink continues to monitor transport infrastructure to ensure efficiency and convenience for commuters.
