Built in 1855, the structure is the tallest round tower in Ireland, rising 55 metres tall. CEO of the Dublin Cemeteries Trust Aoife Watters stated that guests can take advantage of a brand-new immersive experience at the tower and that the organisation is "delighted to be relaunching the newly redesigned visitor experience".
"We’ve enriched each of the landing stations with information panels about the fascinating life of the liberator Daniel O’Connell," she continued.
The vault beneath the tower, where O'Connell's remains are interred, was redesigned to accommodate fresh illumination.

The history of the tower itself is intriguing. Built in 1855, the interior was demolished and it sustained significant damage after a bombardment in 1971.
It was closed for 47 years until being renovated in April 2018. Since then, the Trust has been working on ways to provide visitors a better experience.
