The airport anticipates daily traffic exceeding 115,000 passengers, with the busiest day forecast for today when nearly 124,000 travellers are set to pass through. Over the four-day period, approximately 250,000 passengers will depart, while 230,000 will arrive.
According to Graeme McQueen, spokesperson for Dublin Airport, this weekend marks the beginning of peak travel season, with strong demand set to make it the airport’s busiest June bank holiday ever.
“The coming days, following an already busy month of May, highlight the significant demand for air travel in and out of Dublin,” McQueen said. However, he noted that passenger numbers could be even higher if not for the current cap on passenger traffic, which he says discourages airlines from launching new or additional routes to Ireland.
To help ensure a smooth journey, passengers are advised to arrive two hours before short-haul flights and three hours before long-haul flights. Travellers should also be ready for security screening by packing liquids under 100ml in a sealed, transparent bag (max size 20cm x 20cm), and removing hoodies, bulky jumpers, and high-ankle footwear.
“By planning ahead, passengers can help minimise delays and get their trips off to a great start,” McQueen added.
