There is excellent news for residents in Oranmore, Clarinbridge, and Claregalway as the Luimnagh water treatment plant, located east of Galway city, is reportedly back in operation.

However, the PowerCheck website still lists February 5 as the projected restoration date, meaning that thousands more businesses and residences are still severely impacted throughout the county.

Conamara is still having a lot of trouble, and Matthew Cunningham, the area manager for ESB Galway, has stated that more isolated locations will be harder to reach and might be moved until the following week.

Parts of Clifden and locations like Leitir Mealláin and Leitir Móir are still severely impacted. However, last night, power was restored in Carna, which has a population of about 1,500.

Dara Calleary, the minister of social protection, will pay a visit to a local citizen whose home sustained significant damage during the storm.

His initial stops will be Inis Mór and An Cheatharú Rua. Many areas of Conamara are using generators to help supply water, and yesterday the Irish Coast Guard flew a generator to Inis Meain.

However, there have been indications of additional power disruptions in Inis Oírr this morning.
