During the Christmas period, from Friday, December 20th, to Sunday, December 29th, there were eight fatalities on Irish roads, along with 18 serious collisions that left 20 people with life-threatening injuries.
Chief Superintendent Jane Humphries of the Garda National Roads Policing Bureau emphasized the importance of speaking up: “I urge passengers to call out drivers who are under the influence. You need to tell them they should not be driving. By getting into the car, you’re not only risking your life but also indirectly allowing them to endanger others.”
