The city's Irish language movement was said to have been pioneered by Gearóid Ó Cairealláin, who passed away on Friday.
At Kneecap's sold-out performance in Belfast's SSE Arena on Saturday, his son Naoise Ó Cairealláin, who plays in Irish under the moniker Móglaí Bap, paid homage to his late father.

Former Conradh na Gaeilge president Mr. Ó Cairealláin was described as a "major figure in the Irish language movement" by President Higgins on Sunday.
"Gearóid Ó Cairealláin's death is a great loss for all those who work for the use of the Irish language: its rights, its literature, and its place in the daily life of people," Higgins said.
"He served as president of Conradh na Gaeilge, but his contribution was much wider than that."
