As part of the €173 million Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund, this redevelopment will provide Bohemians Football Club with a brand-new, UEFA category three stadium and pitch.
The funding announcement, scheduled for Monday, will be made by Tánaiste Micheál Martin, Minister for Finance Jack Chambers, and Minister of State for Sport Thomas Byrne.
In February, Dublin City councillors approved a €40 million redevelopment for the Phibsborough stadium. The current structure will be “completely demolished” to make way for a modern, enclosed stadium with four sides and a reoriented north-south pitch.
The new stadium will include seating for 6,240 fans and standing room for an additional 1,794 people.
"It's huge, you can't overstate it."

An additional €19 million will go toward a multi-use sports arena, GAA fields, and a synthetic multi-purpose pitch in Cavan, including accommodation, changing rooms, and lighting. Sligo Rovers FC will receive €16.4 million for facility upgrades.
The soccer project at Dalymount Park represents the largest single investment in the €173 million grant fund supporting 35 projects across Ireland.
Cuala GAA and Dalkey United AFC are also set to receive funding for a new €7.9 million clubhouse facility at Hyde Road, Dalkey, developed in collaboration with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. The new facility will feature an indoor sports hall, ball wall, gym, fitness studio, changing rooms, office space, physio room, storage, and more. Planning permission was granted in 2021, and with matching funds raised, the project is ready to proceed.
Fianna Fáil TD Cormac Devlin expressed support for the €4.6 million allocated to the project, calling it “fantastic news” for Cuala and Dalkey United, whose facilities are over 60 years old and in need of an upgrade.
“This is a significant investment,” Devlin said, thanking Minister for Sport Thomas Byrne for securing the funding. “The clubs serve nearly 4,000 members, and this investment will ensure access to top-quality facilities as they continue to grow.”
