The 27-kilometer South Kerry Greenway, which connects Glenbeigh hamlet and Cahersiveen town, is now under construction.
Cahersiveen and the Valentia Island ferry port at Reenard will be connected by the newly planned 5 km greenway.
In collaboration with Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Kerry County Council is putting out six different proposals for the extra 5 km of road.
Additionally, comprehensive plans will be made available on the Kerry County Council website, where comments and observations can be left by November 15th.

Planning authority for the 27-kilometer South Kerry Greenway and the corresponding Compulsory Purchase Order for the necessary land were awarded by An Bord Pleanála in November 2020.
Originally, Kerry County Council requested approval for a 31-kilometer route that would have included Reenard; however, the 4 km stretch from Cahersiveen to Reenard Point was denied planning clearance and is currently the subject of this separate planning application.
After several court challenges, construction on the much-anticipated South Kerry Greenway, which was first proposed in 2014, ultimately began in January 2023.
The local government stated that it intends to open a 10-kilometer stretch of this path by the end of 2025.
