Last month, Reddit user r/weebrew introduced pinttracker.com, a website for stout enthusiasts and budget-conscious drinkers alike.
Contributors are encouraged to submit Guinness (or similar stout) prices with proof, helping users locate both the most expensive and affordable pints in both cities. Though over 100 bars have yet to be added, the tracker is already proving valuable to both locals and tourists.
Currently, Belfast’s priciest pint can be found at the Europa Hotel, costing a staggering £7. Meanwhile, the cheapest pint discovered is at the Irish National Foresters Club on Albert Street, where you can enjoy a Guinness for just £4.
More affordable options are typically found in social clubs, bars connected to sports clubs, or pubs outside the city centre. Examples include the 3 C’s Social Club (£4.20), Falls Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club (£4.15), and The Cosy Bar (£4.50).
Guinness prices, like everything else, have been steadily rising, especially during the current cost-of-living crisis.
Last winter, Sunday Life reported the most expensive pint in Belfast was £6.20 at The Spaniard, a cozy spot in the popular Cathedral Quarter.
Now, many city centre pubs charge around £6.50 for a pint, including The Deer’s Head, The Dark Horse, and The Harp Bar.
