The new schools will be situated at the campuses of Atlantic Technological University in Donegal and Galway, as well as South East Technological University in Kilkenny.
According to the Taoiseach, there is a "real need" for a regional balance in the provision of veterinary services after speaking with farmers and veterinarians throughout rural Ireland.
It is anticipated that Minister O'Donovan and Minister McConalogue will make the announcement during the National Ploughing Championships at Ratheniska, County Laois.
It is anticipated that the decision would produce 80 more veterinary medical graduates annually.

I’m delighted that Carlow/Kilkenny has been chosen as the location for Irelands new veterinary college. Until now, the only place to study veterinary medicine in Ireland was UCD.@SimonHarrisTD @podonovan pic.twitter.com/3viQQY8oRv
It is projected that beginning in the next year, students will have access to the courses.
At its meeting, the Cabinet will be briefed on the €50 million in capital expenditures that have been allocated to these projects.
Since the 1970s, UCD has been Ireland's sole veterinary medical provider.
