On October 3, Belfast's SSE Arena will host the Paris Celebration Event. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the accomplishments of regional rivals.

"Every local athlete who competed in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris is an inspiration," stated Gordon Lyons, Minister of Sports.

Four gold medals were among the record seven that were won at the Olympic Games in Paris.

There were eight Northern Irish competitors at the Paralympic Games. Daniel Wiffin earned gold and bronze, Rhys McClenaghan won gold, and Philip Doyle won silver while competing for Team Ireland.

Rebecca Shorten took home the silver medal and Hannah Scott and Jack McMillan the gold for Team GB.
