Over the following four years, it is anticipated that the new multi-million euro investment would generate 60 new highly trained jobs.

In 1978, the Schwabe Group—a world pioneer in natural health solutions like plant-based medications—founded Cara Partners in Little Island.

In order to meet demand, the business said that it will expand and create procedures that will enable the Little Island plant to produce fifteen more Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) items.

Additionally, a sizable sum of money will be spent on modernising and expanding the output of its current API offering.

IDA Ireland is providing support for this initiative.

According to Stephen Kenny, general manager of Cara Partners, this investment will guarantee the site's viability for many years to come and create fantastic job prospects for Cork residents as well as those around the country.

"From the inception, Schwabe, a family owned and run business working with Cara Partners have developed an excellent culture in Cork, both in terms of the technical ability of the staff and a very innovative fulfilling environment," he stated.

"We in Cara Partners look forward to implementing this exciting group strategic investment plan over the coming years," he stated.

Cara Partners has over 40 years of experience in the extraction of API from natural herbal material, according to Dr. Frank Waimer, Chief Operations Officer of Schwabe Group.

"Following this investment Cara Partners will be the global centre of excellence within the Schwabe Group and worldwide," he stated.

Along with the creation of 60 new highly qualified jobs, Ireland's status as a top pharmaceutical sector destination is further reinforced by today's investment from Cara Partners, according to Minister for Enterprise, Trade, and Employment Peter Burke.

"Regional investments such as this are most welcome and remain a priority for both Government and IDA Ireland," said the Minister.

The announcement of a €130 million expansion and 60 excellent jobs, according to Mary Buckley, Executive Director of IDA Ireland, is very positive news and demonstrates IDA Ireland's ongoing commitment to attracting investment and jobs for every region of Ireland.
