Last October, the 3-kilometer trail atop the mountain in Gaoth Dobhair was finished.

After intense rain in May, portions of the €630,000 path were swept away.

The project officer of Cairde na hEaragaile, Josephine Kelly, stated that the organisation, which was founded in 2022 with the intention of safeguarding the mountainous region, is pleading with hikers to stay away from the area while the necessary repair work is being done on the trail using a helicopter.

It can take up to eight weeks to finish the repairs.

She stated, "The path will be open while this work is taking place, and the work will be taking place over the next six to eight weeks."

"We are just asking people not to climb while the helicopter is operating."
