As of June 2023, Derry had 212,620 cattle, making it the county with the second fewest cows. Only Fermanagh had fewer cattle, with a total of 158,889.
Tyrone had the highest number of cattle in Northern Ireland, with 392,970 animals. Antrim and Down followed in second and third places, with 341,533 and 336,133 cattle, respectively. Armagh ranked fourth with 231,200 cattle.
Foyle ranks as the third-lowest constituency in terms of cattle numbers across Northern Ireland, excluding the four Belfast constituencies combined into one, with 15,931 cattle. The combined Belfast constituencies recorded 9,425 cattle, and North Down had 11,497.
East Derry recorded 112,413 cattle. The constituency with the highest number of cattle was Fermanagh and South Tyrone, with 256,602 cattle, followed closely by West Tyrone with 211,712 cattle.
