The Dubliner, a New York-based designer, updated the colour scheme and added new meaning to the classic county crests.

"Every athlete selected their county, and the crest is embroidered and sewn onto the jacket sleeve," she stated.

"Not only is this an amazing talking point for all the athletes, but it felt like a special tribute to all their families, their communities, their villages that have supported them just to get to the Olympics."

Among the many distinctive features of the opening ceremony jackets are the county crests (Leitrim excepted, of course).

They consist of a four-leaf shamrock adorned brooch and four shamrocks, symbolising the four regions of Ireland.

Additionally, a little opera pocket in the front of the coats alludes to the 1924 Olympic suit worn by Ireland's inaugural athletes.

Fortunately, this now accommodates a cell phone for what looks to be a wonderful occasion for photos and video.

Laura Weber has collaborated with designers Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Thom Browne, and celebrities including Rhianna, Kaia Gerber, and Lily Aldridge.

"But it will be a dream come true to watch Team Ireland at the opening ceremony."

"I have undoubtedly fantasised about undertakings and teamwork similar to this. The fact that I got to meet all these incredible athletes makes this one very meaningful."

"I shall be inspired by them for the rest of my life. Not simply their self-control, diligence, and commitment, but also their disposition and friendliness.

"It has just been an absolute privilege to get to meet these athletes," she stated.
