Tripadvisor has honored Mount Congreve Gardens and Waterford Treasures, which includes the Bishop’s Palace and the Irish Museum of Time, in its 2024 Travellers’ Choice Awards.
The awards are based on feedback from visitors over a 12-month period, recognizing attractions that consistently receive excellent reviews in global tourist and hospitality listings.
John Boris, chief growth officer at Tripadvisor, explained that the award signifies an attraction has made a “memorable impact” on visitors, prompting many to leave positive reviews online.
Boris added, “The Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice seal helps people navigate the many things to see and do across the globe. We hope this recognition continues to drive business to you in 2024 and beyond.”
Mount Congreve recently underwent a multi-million redevelopment, while Waterford Treasures expanded to include The Irish Wake Museum in the Viking Triangle.
Located in the heart of County Waterford and open year-round, Mount Congreve Gardens is a haven for plant and history enthusiasts, as well as those seeking relaxation in nature. It boasts one of the largest private collections of plants globally, featuring specimens from every continent. Mount Congreve House, home to six generations of Congreves, was built in 1760 by renowned local architect John Roberts.
Sara Dolan, chief executive at Mount Congreve Gardens and Waterford Treasures, expressed delight at being voted in the top 10 percent globally.
The Irish Museum of Time, Ireland’s National Horological Museum, is situated on Greyfriars Street in Waterford’s Viking Triangle. The refurbished gothic-style church houses one of the finest collections of Irish timepieces in the world.
The Bishop’s Palace Museum showcases Waterford treasures from 1700 to the 20th century, offering visitors insights into the history of what was, up until the 1750s, Ireland’s second city.
