On Thursday morning, officials from the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association (IALPA) and Aer Lingus were engaged in negotiations to end the stand-off.

Pilots are seeking a nearly 24 percent pay increase, while Aer Lingus has already cancelled 270 flights due to the dispute.

Donal Moriarty, Aer Lingus’s chief corporate affairs officer, confirmed that the airline was planning further cancellations from Wednesday, July 3rd, to mitigate the impact of the pilots’ ongoing work-to-rule actions.

Following the discussions, Aer Lingus released a statement saying: “The discussions did not progress to a point where a resolution could be reached, and they were ended by IALPA. IALPA indicated that it did not have a mandate from its members to discuss productivity and flexibility—matters essential to any pay negotiations.”

“Pilots are on strike for 8 hours on Saturday, June 29th. This would be an opportune time for IALPA to meet with pilots to adjust their mandate so they can engage in meaningful negotiations to resolve this dispute.”
