The reduction follows a review by the Northern Ireland Utility Regulator, which sets price controls for the region’s major suppliers, including Firmus, Power NI, and SSE Gas.
The Ten Towns network covers Antrim, Armagh, Banbridge, Ballymena, Coleraine, Craigavon, Newry, Londonderry, and more than 25 other surrounding towns and villages. Tariff updates for Power NI and SSE Gas customers were announced yesterday, while Firmus customers in Belfast will be advised of changes in the coming weeks.
Colin Boomfield, director of markets at the Utility Regulator, acknowledged the ongoing pressures on households and businesses facing high energy costs. He encouraged customers experiencing difficulties to contact their supplier directly to discuss available support and payment options.
Ryan Miskimmin, from Firmus Energy, said the company remained committed to passing savings on to customers. “Since April, consecutive reductions have lowered our tariffs by nearly 19%, delivering average annual savings of £210 per household,” he said.
Miskimmin added that the price cut would be particularly welcome as the colder months approach. “Combined with the reliability, constant heat, and instant hot water that natural gas provides, these savings will make a meaningful difference for Ten Towns customers,” he said.
The announcement is part of a wider effort by energy providers and regulators to ease the cost-of-living pressures, while ensuring that customers have access to affordable and reliable energy. With winter approaching, households across the region are expected to benefit significantly from the latest reductions.
