The aircraft, operated by Emerald Airlines on behalf of Aer Lingus, had four crew members on board but no passengers. The incident triggered emergency procedures and led to the runway’s closure for the remainder of the day.

Emerald Airlines attributed the incident to the severe weather conditions that have been causing travel disruptions across the UK.
On Monday morning, Belfast City Airport confirmed that normal operations had resumed.
In a statement, the airport said: “The runway at Belfast City Airport has now reopened, and normal operations will resume today. Passengers affected by yesterday’s closure or scheduled to travel today should check their flight status with the airline before heading to the airport.”
