It said that its hubs have the "facilities, technology, and staff" necessary to distribute the packages to residences and workplaces throughout Ireland. Storm Darragh's devastation at Holyhead forced the cancellation of ferry sailings between Ireland and Wales.
Garrett Bridgman, Managing Director of An Post Commercial, stated that Holyhead port remains closed and won't reopen until December 19.
Although he stated that most online businesses have found other ways to enter Ireland in light of the restriction, he still encouraged people to check the websites of retailers to see whether their deliveries are impacted.
According to Mr. Bridgman, some 150,000 packages are still in Holyhead Port and are being redirected. "The minute we get it, we will deliver it," he stated.
Customers should receive the packages they ordered before to Storm Darragh, however Mr. Bridgman advised them to track their packages once they reach in Ireland.
An Post stated in a statement that 1,400 Christmas casual workers were available to assist with clearing the backlog, which has already been reduced by rerouting from 500,000 parcels to about 150,000.
