Posters are required to be taken down within seven days after polling day, yet many remain visible across the country.

Both winning and losing candidates could be fined €150 per poster that remains in place. Fianna Fáil’s Catherine Ardagh has urged people to report any leftover posters to the relevant politicians, who can be contacted via email or social media.

Some social media users have pointed out that election posters are still up in their areas and called for their removal. Others have cautioned those taking down posters to exercise care, as Storm Darragh continues to impact the country.

Candidates are permitted to put up posters 30 days before polling day or from the date of the ministerial polling day order, whichever is shorter. On polling day, no posters or campaigning are allowed within 50 meters of a polling station.

Failing to remove posters within seven days after polling day is considered an offence.
