Patrick J. Rigney, an entrepreneur in the drinks industry, is supporting the Changing Times Brewery for the first time. A little more than two weeks ago, the new business launched its first two beers, and he is now taking on the role of chair.
About a dozen publicans from Dublin and Cork formed the new Glasnevin brewery, which is receiving a total investment of €2 million.
"I was greatly flattered when I was asked to get involved in Changing Times Brewery, which I think represents a real innovation in the Irish beer market," said Rigney.
"What attracted me was the family dimension of this business, which very much aligns with our values in The Shed Distillery."
"The families behind this brewery are steeped in the pub heritage of Dublin and Ireland with years and years’ of experience in catering to their customer’s tastes."
The Shed Distillery of PJ Rigney was established and is owned by Mr Rigney. Among its brands are Sausage Tree Pure Irish Vodka, Drumshanbo Single Pot Still Irish Whisky and Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin.
In the past, he has helped launch Irish beverage brands like Baileys and Sheridan's Irish Cream over the world.
In addition, he created 20 other global beverage companies, such as Boru Vodka/Castle companies, which he sold in 2005 for more than $100 million on the stock exchange.
The publican families behind The Ferryman, The Palace, The Long Hall, The Swan, Darkey Kellys, The Bankers, Arthur Maynes in Donnybrook, Devitts, Doheny & Nesbitts, Sheehans, Lemon & Duke, The Bridge 1859, The Blackrock, The Bank, and McSorleys, as well as brewer Shane Long and publican Benny McCabe, also support Changing Times.
Marcus Houlihan of The Long Hall stated, "Having a man with Patrick's experience, creativity, innovation, connections, and more join Changing Times is absolutely fantastic."
"Everyone involved in the drinks’ industry recognises what a titan he is and his history of achievement," he stated.
