The institution will honour Mr. Jennings with a 'Professional Excellence Award' at a ceremony at the Griffith institution campus in Dublin.

"To date, Brian's career as a journalist, news reporter, and newsreader has been a great service to this nation," Senior Journalism Lecturer Barry Finnegan will say at the ceremony.

"For nearly four decades, Brian Jennings' composed professionalism has embodied everything admirable about Irish radio and journalism.

"Reliable, dependable, reasoned, measured, fair, accurate and importantly, an absolute pleasure to listen to."

Later this morning, the award will be given out during Griffith College's commencement ceremony.
