Following the holidays, temporary workers will have the chance to apply for any permanent positions that become available, either in Tesco's current stores or in new sites that are planned for the upcoming year, according to the business.
According to the company, the positions offer a competitive benefits and compensation package.
Tesco Ireland's People Director, Maurice Kelly, stated, "We are thrilled to be creating nearly 1,200 additional festive roles across the country this Christmas."
"At Tesco, we know how important it is to offer meaningful and flexible job opportunities, alongside offering existing colleagues the chance to benefit from additional seasonal hours too," he stated.
According to statistics released last week by the hiring platform Indeed, the number of part-time Christmas jobs available has somewhat decreased from the previous year.
The firm stated, seasonal employment posts on October 25 decreased by 3% compared to 2023 figures.
As a percentage of total searches in Ireland, Christmas employment searches are increasing at the fastest rate in recent memory, up 5% from 2023 levels.
