On Thursday, Mr. Harris will also participate in a European Council meeting, where discussions will focus on the situation in the Middle East, a key topic at both gatherings. The conflict in Ukraine will also be addressed at the European Council session.

In a statement, the Taoiseach said: “I am looking forward to attending the first summit between the EU and the Gulf Cooperation Council, as well as the European Council meeting.

“The situation in the Middle East, and the ongoing violence, will be a central topic at both meetings. EU leaders, alongside leaders from the Middle East, have a responsibility to do everything in our power to help end this devastating conflict.”
