The Dublin riots last November elevated the issue of safety in the capital and the state of Dublin city centre to the top of the political agenda.
The Taoiseach stated that Dublin's social and cultural landscape has transformed since the Covid-19 outbreak and that a taskforce would be formed to try to make the city more alluring and safe.
The announcement was made in May of this year. The panel, led by A Post CEO David McRedmond, received feedback from the National Transport Authority, Dublin City Council, and the gardaí.
The report, which was submitted to the Government a month ago, will be brought before the Cabinet this morning.
It includes ten significant recommendations for revitalising the city centre, with an emphasis on the former An Post headquarters at the GPO and the revitalisation of O'Connell Street.
