According to bank statistics, since the start of 2022, €1.15 million worth of notes and €341,000 worth of coins have been taken out from under mattresses, coin jars, safes, and coffers.
Even though the euro was established in Ireland more than 20 years ago, the Central Bank continues to provide an exchange rate at the set rate of €1.27 for every old pound.
A record of the top 20 transactions reveals that bettors exchanged wagers valued from €9,313 to slightly more than €25,000.
The largest exchange was €25,204, or IR£19,850 in old money, which one individual got via a successful visit to the central bank.

In addition, a trade of IR £19,000 and four further transactions totalling over IR £15,000 were made. 2,338 distinct trades have occurred overall since the beginning of 2022.
