The ticket was purchased at the Kildimo Mace shop for last Wednesday night's drawing, according to the National Lottery.

The Limerick winner has contacted the lottery operator, and plans are in place for them to pick up their €5,501,086 reward, the operator of the lottery also confirmed.

After learning that her business had sold the ticket, owner Carol Mulcair expressed her happiness.

"What a nice phone call I received! I'm overjoyed. Over the years, we've had a few minor victories, but nothing this significant," she remarked.

It's fantastic for the neighbourhood and will undoubtedly generate excitement. The employees are also ecstatic.

"I hope it's one of them; we're a very small, local store with the same customers coming in every day. We are really happy for them, whomever they are."
