The National Ploughing Association (NPA) has confirmed that discussions are ongoing with the landowners of these sites, though no definite timeline has been set for a final decision.
At the moment, the NPA is reflecting on the success of the 2024 championships, which were held in Ratheniska, County Laois. The event saw a notable increase in attendance compared to previous years, drawing 43,450 more visitors than last year. The rise in numbers was attributed largely to favourable weather conditions, with dry and sunny days contributing to the event’s success.
In total, close to 250,000 people attended the three-day event in Ratheniska, solidifying its reputation as one of Europe’s largest agricultural events. The strong turnout has set high expectations for next year’s edition, as organisers carefully weigh their options for a suitable venue.
