The head of Sinn Féin stated that everyone expected a vote in November, despite Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil's constant assertion that the election won't be called until next year.
Following a shocking sequence of local election results in June, Ms. McDonald said that her party was "ready" for a general election because they had taken the message from the voters to heart.
Regarding the choice of candidates, Ms. McDonald expressed her optimism that her party would have success on the third occasion, given that it acknowledged fielding an excessive number of candidates in the summer local elections and an inadequate number in the 2020 general election.
According to her, the party would probably run about seventy candidates.
"We would prefer that it happens sooner rather than later. All of the political parties are preparing now for an autumn election."
"I believe now is the perfect opportunity to reach out to the public. We will present our plans, including the alternate strategy. It's time for change, and we will present strategies rather than just platitudes. So go ahead and do it.
