The 31-year-old, who had been on trial with Scott Parker’s EFL Championship team, became a free agent after leaving Sheffield United this summer, ending a six-year spell with the club.

“I’m ambitious both as a person and a player, and I feel like I’ve joined an ambitious club,” Egan said. “The manager, staff, and players are all striving for success, and I want to contribute to that. I’m eager to bring my experience and abilities to the team to help push us forward.”

Egan, capped 36 times for Ireland, previously played for Gillingham and Brentford and helped Sheffield United achieve promotion to the Premier League twice during his tenure.

Burnley, who were relegated from the Premier League alongside Sheffield United last season, currently hold sixth place in the Championship with seven points from their first four matches.
