Current PGA Champion and Open Champion Xander Schauffele is the reigning Olympic champion after his victory in Tokyo.
The Olympic field is stacked as the USA are represented by Wyndham Clark, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa. Team GB are represented by Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick, while Sweden are represented by Ludvig Aberg and Alex Noren.
Speaking on Tuesday, Rory McIlroy said: “Obviously I have some great memories for me from the 2018 Ryder Cup here. I was close in Tokyo to getting a medal and obviously would love to try to go one or two or three better and get a medal”.
McIlroy will be paired with Scottie Scheffler and Ludvig Aberg in his first two rounds, while Shane Lowry is paired with Nick Taylor and Byeong Hun An.
