The biggest bonfire was said to be “record-breaking” by DUP MP Sammy Wilson at Craigyhill in Larne.

According to reports, the blaze there allegedly reached 62 metres in height in 2022, making it one of the largest in recent years.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service stated in a statement that the night had been “relatively quiet.”

According to the service, there were 25% fewer emergency calls received over the same period last year, with peak activity occurring between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Most bonfires were set last night, while several were torched the night before, including one in County Tyrone that burned a fictitious police vehicle at the peak close to Dungannon.

In anticipation of today's Orange Order marches, community bonfires have become an annual ritual.

In a public safety operation that will take place in tandem with the bonfires and parades, the Police Service of Northern Ireland is anticipated to deploy about 4,000 officers and personnel, or roughly two thirds of the force.
