Mr. Ó Curraighín, who hails from Teileann in the Gaeltacht of Donegal, succeeds Eileen Magnier, who resigned in May following over forty years in the position.
Starting in August, he will cover and analyse social, political, cultural, and economic events in the North West area, which includes all of Donegal, Leitrim, and Sligo, for all RTÉ News platforms.
After joining RTÉ in 2016 as a multimedia journalist, Mr. Ó Curraighín has covered a variety of significant news topics around Ireland for radio, television, and digital platforms, including RTÉ News Online, 7LÁ, Nuacht RTÉ, and TG4.
A huge congratulations to DCU Alumnus and journalist Shane Ó Curraighín who has been appointed as RTÉ's Northwest correspondent.
