To build a National Space Exploration Centre at a property in Monksland's Westpoint Retail Park, Metaversal Ltd. has requested planning clearance.
The concept comprises an auditorium, cafe, store, virtual reality space mission experience, and interactive space museum, as reported by the Roscommon Herald.
According to the applicants, the new facility would generate around twenty jobs, three of which will be full-time.
High levels of interaction are intended as part of the development to “lead towards a more engaging and fun learning experience.”
The “lack of space-related educational facilities in Ireland” was emphasised by Metaversal in their planning proposal, and they added that the planned facility will “inspire students to pursue careers in the sciences by fostering an interest in this subject through engaging and captivating experiences.”
By July 15th, county planners are expected to make a judgement about the development.
