The prize was given to Danny Doyle of Rathangan, County Kildare, by Charlie McConalogue TD, Minister of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine.
The Rathangan man graduated from Teagasc Kildalton Agriculture College in Piltown, County Kilkenny, with a two-year Level 5 Certificate in Agriculture and a Level 6 Certificate in Advanced Crops and Machinery.

He worked on tillage fields in Kentucky and Tennessee for five months at that time.
He presently works as a full-time farmer on a large-scale tillage farm near Rathangan, where they raise oil seed rape, barley, and wheat. His parents and uncle also farm there. On the property, they also maintain livestock.
