While Taoiseach Leo Varadkar declined to disclose the date of the upcoming general election, he did reveal the polling date on Thursday.

"No time soon, anyway" was his response to reporters' questions about the date of the upcoming general election.

His remarks follow the Government's two crushing losses in the referendum results from last week.

"The next elections will be the local and European elections as well as the Limerick mayor elections on June 7," Mr. Varadkar continued while speaking in Washington, DC.

"There is no set date for the general election."

An election could be called as late as March 2025 if the Coalition continues until February of the following year.
