Subject to a number of requirements, Dexcom International Limited has obtained clearance for a 40,000 square metre facility on properties in Ballygarraun.

According to the Council, the proposed development complies with the County Development Plan, appropriate planning, and sustainable development of the region.

The majority of the requirements imposed on the decision have to do with maintaining and safeguarding the surrounding environment.

On Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., and on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., construction activity is allowed.

The development will take place gradually, and when it's finished, Dexcom will have to make sure that bike sharing, and shuttle buses are available so that workers may choose environmentally friendly ways to go to and from work.

A four-story manufacturing factory with warehouses, production spaces, and administrative offices would be part of the planned building. There will be 500 parking spots available, 100 of which will feature EV charging stations.

The global company based in the US produces glucose monitoring devices for diabetes care.

Built on IDA-owned property, the factory in County Galway will be the company's first production location in Europe.
