Women are being encouraged to explore careers in driving by Iarnród Éireann, which reported that the proportion of female trainees was rising.
It coincides with the National Development Plan 2021–2030's plan to develop the train network over the next few years.
The DART+ initiative is part of the plan to triple the electrification of the rail network in the greater Dublin region and more than quadruple the capacity for commuters.
Chief Executive Jim Meade of Iarnród Éireann made the following comment in a statement: “Iarnród Éireann is a dynamic organisation that offers excellent opportunities for progression.”
It's an exciting moment to join a developing organisation because of the National Development Plan's projected service growth.
“We are also seeing great interest in careers in Iarnród Éireann from a range of backgrounds – we are a diverse and inclusive employer, and in particular we urge more women to apply for driver roles and are encouraged by the increasing interest from women in recent recruitment drives.”
The Iarnród Éireann website is where applications are made.
