According to a recent assessment by the online food and beverage magazine Tasting Table, Kerrygold butter is the top "Grocery Store Butter Brand."
In a recent review of 12 butter brands available at grocery stores, Tasting Table wrote of Kerrygold, "It may be a little more expensive than some of the other butter brands at the grocery store, but it's worth every penny."
Its deep, rich, gold colour, which nearly appeared dyed, gives it its name.
“We could smell only butter when we opened the package, and that was Kerrygold butter. Our noses were assaulted by an irresistible aroma of fat, salt, cream, and grass.”
Irish grass-fed cattle's milk is used to make the butter, which has a distinct flavour from American butter, including butter made from cows grown on pasture.
Kerrygold, according to Tasting Table, provided “creamy dairy, sweetness, salt, and sharp savouriness but just with the volume turned up.”
The article concluded: “We think you'll find that Kerrygold is a flavour upgrade over your usual brand, regardless of whether you're looking to use butter in cooking, baking, or as a bread topping.”
