According to a new report, Ireland has had the greatest increase in remote working inside the EU. In line with recent Eurostat data, the trend in this area increased by 18% between 2019 and 2022.

The results of a BNP Paribas Real Estate survey that took into account data from Eurostat, out of the 27 EU member states, Ireland is leading the way in the adoption of remote work.

The Netherlands has the greatest percentage of remote workers, but when it comes to people making the switch to working from home, Ireland is in the lead.

A statement from John McCartney, a spokesman for BNP Paribas Real Estate said: “Ireland has the second-highest rate of higher education among employees in the EU.”

“The capacity to work from home is clearly associated with the fact that 54 percent of Irish employees have completed some sort of post-secondary education.”

While Mr. McCartney acknowledged that many companies would want to see an increase in office-based employment, he also noted that this will be challenging given that many employees are already accustomed to working from home, either full-time or as part of a hybrid work paradigm.
