The new look of the Notre Dame football team has been unveiled ahead of their season-opening game against the Navy Midshipmen on August 26 in Dublin at the Aer Lingus Classic. The Fight Irish will be visiting Ireland for the third time; however, this will be the first time they play as the host team.
The team's letters “ND” is framed by a gold thread Celtic knot on the shoulder, and a shamrock emblem is featured on the back of the jersey just below the neck. The new uniform also features an Irish flag trim around the collar.
They posted “Tá Notre Dame sa Bhaile” on social media. Third visit to Ireland. First time as the home team. Notre Dame are at home. #GoIrish.”
On September 1, 2012, Notre Dame made its most recent trip to Dublin, when they trounced the Midshipmen 50-10 at the Aviva. Back then, Adidas was responsible for altering the outfit. Prior to that, in 1996, Notre Dame competed in Dublin.
