Without the need for further gear, the new services will enable merchants to take contactless payments straight from their iPhone.
Buyers may safely complete purchases by placing their contactless payment method—such as an Apple Pay, contactless credit or debit card, or other digital wallet—near the seller's iPhone.
According to John O'Beirne, Executive Director of Square in Europe, "Tap to Pay on iPhone enables Irish businesses of all sizes to start accepting payments in minutes and process transactions in seconds from anywhere in the store or on the go, with nothing more than an iPhone."
According to Stripe, business clients may now use an iPhone and the Stripe Terminal SDK to collect contactless, in-person payments.
As stated by David Kilbride, Ireland Head of Revenue and Growth at Stripe, "Tap to Pay on iPhone means Irish businesses can now accept contactless payments with a device that many of us already have in our back pockets - an iPhone."
"For a small business, this easy-to-deploy technology means they can accept contactless payments from more customers in more places, and scale quickly," added Kilbride.
Customers of Revolut Pro and Revolut Business in Ireland may now use Apple's Tap to Pay contactless payment acceptance technology, according to Revolut.
Alex Codina, General Manager of Merchant Acquisition at Revolut, stated, "With the introduction of Tap to Pay on iPhone, we are able to provide more options for both customers and merchants in Ireland."
"We expect to see all kinds of businesses, from retail stores to barbershops and food stands, quickly start accepting in-person contactless payments with only an iPhone," added Codina.
