As of October 25, the firm said that seasonal employment posts have decreased by 3% compared to 2023 figures.

As a percentage of total searches in Ireland, Christmas employment searches are increasing at the fastest rate in recent memory, up 5% from 2023 levels.

Indeed reports that recruiting for the holiday season often begins in August and peaks in November as companies look to fill critical part-time positions before the hectic Christmas season.

Christmas hospitality positions are being marketed at up to €15 per hour, while seasonal retail employees may make up to €18 per hour.

Seasonal event staff members may make just under €20 per hour, while temporary postal workers can get just over €16 per hour.

According to Jack Kennedy, Senior Economist at Indeed, "Employers in Ireland are preparing for the holiday season, though Christmas job postings are pacing slightly behind previous years."

"The available part-time roles are likely to be filled more easily this year given we are seeing a greater share of seasonal job searches than has been experienced in previous years."

With a number of one-time payments and subsidies, the recently announced Budget 2025 initiatives aimed to alleviate the stresses caused by the expense of living. Retailers could be cautiously expecting that this will stimulate holiday spending and enhance consumer mood," Mr. Kennedy said.
