Born in Limerick in 1889, Keating is regarded as one of Ireland's most prominent painters of the first half of the 20th century.
'Men of the South', one of the gallery's most popular displays, shows members of the IRA's 2nd North Cork Brigade poised for an ambush.
The gallery, which is closed for extensive repairs until 2027, also acquired 'Winter Evening, Calary' (1964) by abstract and landscape artist Camille Souter and 'Attic Bedroom' (year unknown) by Scottish artist Grace Henry with the help of the Department of Arts.
Tá dhá shaothar eile leis an ealaíontóir Seán Keating ceannaithe ag Gailearaí Ealaíne Crawford i gcathair Chorcaí. Meastar go bhfuil Keating, a rugadh i Luimneach os cionn 100 bliain ó shin, ar dhuine de na péintéirí is mó le rá in Éirinn sa chéad leath den bhfichiú haois. pic.twitter.com/nL2UKxjxPj

The purchase of the paintings is a victory for the gallery, according to gallery director Mary McCarthy. She continued:
"The public will have an even more exciting and ensriching visitor experience awaiting them when we reopen our doors following Transforming Crawford Art Gallery" .
