This four-day period, from Friday to Monday, is projected to surpass the record set in 2023, when around 405,000 passengers travelled during the same weekend.

Friday is anticipated to be the busiest day, with approximately 110,000 passengers arriving and departing. Of these, 58,000 will be departing from Dublin Airport.

To ensure smooth travel during this busy time, passengers are advised to arrive two hours before short-haul flights and three hours before long-haul flights.

Sarah Ryan, Director of Communications at daa, which operates Dublin Airport, said: “This weekend kicks off the school mid-term break, giving many families a chance to enjoy autumn holidays abroad. We are also welcoming tens of thousands of tourists, including rugby fans arriving for the Lions’ match against Leinster at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday evening.

“Due to high demand for parking, passengers without a reservation should consider alternative transportation, such as buses, taxis, or being dropped off. We are excited to welcome all passengers this weekend and hope everyone has a pleasant trip.”

Travel tips for passengers:

· Prepare for security ahead of time and head directly to the screening area after check-in for a smooth process.

· Liquids in hand luggage must be 100ml or less and placed in a single, clear resealable bag (maximum size 20cm x 20cm). This must be presented at security. Exemptions apply for medications and baby food.

· Passengers in Terminal 2 can carry multiple one-litre bags, but those in Terminal 1 are limited to one bag, due to different scanning systems.

· Visit the Dublin Airport website for further security tips and advice.

· Double-check which terminal your flight is departing from before arriving at the airport.
