The MSc in Golf Management will be offered at the Coleraine campus and aims to meet the growing global demand for skilled professionals who can manage golf facilities, events, and organizations at the highest level.
Golf has become a significant driver of international tourism in recent years, with Ireland boasting some of the world’s best courses and drawing visitors from around the globe.
The first group of students, preparing to meet the needs of the thriving golf tourism sector, will begin their studies in 2025.
Course director Peter Bolan noted that interest in the program is already coming from international applicants.
“We’ve received an application from a student in Houston, Texas, and inquiries from Florida, as well as from the Netherlands and Spain,” he said.
Bolan added that competition for places will be as fierce as the rivalries seen among the top golfers, explaining that students will acquire the expertise needed for a career in this fast-growing and economically important sector.
Developed by Ulster University’s Department of Hospitality, Tourism, and Events Management, the program offers a cutting-edge curriculum accredited by the Institute of Hospitality, ensuring international recognition for graduates.
The university emphasized that the qualification will unlock career opportunities at some of the world’s premier golf resorts and organizations.
“The launch of the Master’s in Golf Management is a landmark moment for Ulster University Coleraine,” said Dr. Bolan.
“With a year to go before the program starts, we’ve already received applications from North America and Europe.
“We are committed to delivering an educational experience that is both academically rigorous and relevant to the industry.
“Our partnerships with Royal Portrush Golf Club, Portstewart Golf Club, and other prestigious local golf institutions will give students the chance to develop their skills in world-class, real-world environments.”
