Speaking at a celebration honouring a century of bilateral ties between Ireland and the US will be both Mr. Biden and the Taoiseach.

In 1914, the United States became the first nation to recognise the Irish Free State.

The occasion "will also be an opportunity to reflect on President Biden's career-long friendship with Ireland," according to a government spokesman.

While in Washington, DC, Mr. Harris will also be participating in a variety of other activities.

The Taoiseach received a formal invitation from President Biden to come to Washington at the UN General Assembly in New York.

At the assembly, Mr. Harris had a bilateral discussion with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa and President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority.

Mr. Harris stated that the country "recognises Palestine and their right to statehood" in a post on X.

"I met the Palestinian President to convey this to him on behalf of the people of Ireland," he stated.
