Cookstown's Holy Trinity College said that its students will be performing the musical adaption in December.
Just 11 schools in all of Europe are performing for the first time with full rights, and this one happens to be the winner of a competition.
"We're not going to waste any time and will stage the musical this December," the staff stated in an announcement following the success of Calamity Jane last fall. "We are so delighted to be the only school in Ireland to be given this opportunity."
Holy Trinity is collaborating with a nearby elementary school to stage a magnificent show as part of a community outreach program.
Through a competition run by Disney and Musical Theatre International (MTI), the school was given the opportunity to perform the musical.
Holy Trinity’s head of music, Roisin McCurry, is spearheading the school’s proposal to create the production, which will be a straight adaptation of the stage musical instead than the movie.
The Cookstown School was the only school chosen from Northern Ireland out of ten schools that competed successfully around Europe.
