Cara Partners, part of the Schwabe Group, has announced a €130 million investment to upgrade and expand its Little Island facility, which will create 60 new highly skilled jobs over the next four years.

The Schwabe Group, headquartered in Karlsruhe, Germany, is a global leader in natural health solutions, including plant-based medicines. The company established Cara Partners in Little Island, Cork, in 1978.

This expansion will enable the facility to produce 15 additional API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) products, alongside a significant investment in modernising and increasing the production capacity of the existing EGb 761 API product.

The APIs produced by Cara Partners are developed under the guidance of the Schwabe Group’s headquarters in Karlsruhe.

This project is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment, Peter Burke TD, expressed his satisfaction with the announcement, stating: “I am delighted to see Cara Partners make this significant investment in expansion, which I am confident will be a success. The creation of 60 new highly skilled jobs further reinforces Ireland’s position as a leading destination for the pharmaceutical industry. Regional investments like this are highly valued and remain a priority for both the Government and IDA Ireland.”
